Testimonials

“Bev served our homeschool extension program for many years with integrity and diligence. She lovingly mentored many guitar and voice students over the years that are now accomplished musicians. She is patient and systematic in her approach. I highly recommend her!”  – Karine Bauch, Director, The Learning Vine

“Ms. Larkin was my guitar teacher through a homeschool co-op I attended during high school. It was through her that I fell in love with and found the joy in playing acoustic guitar. Even though I only had the privilege of learning with her for just a semester or two, the knowledge she instilled in me was plentiful, valuable, and foundational, allowing me to continue learning on my own many years into the future. Beverly was always willing to work with me as a student as I selected songs I wanted to play, and her encouraging and cheerful demeanor kept me looking forward to lessons each week as my knowledge and level of advancement grew. I would highly recommend Beverly Larkin to other aspiring musicians. Her method of teaching, combined with her cheerful attitude and love of music, creates the foundation and very core of musical education. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher to begin my love of the guitar and the music that would follow.”  – Anna K.

“Thanks so much for what you poured into Maria and all your students. She developed a love for guitar while taking lessons from you. You allowed her to play songs she enjoyed, making it fun. She worked on hard techniques, for her, like staying on beat and hearing the music in her head. These challenging topics could have discouraged her, but because of your encouragement she made it through that stage and has progressed in her playing.” – Carla S.  [Maria took guitar lessons for one year, during her sophomore year in high school.]

“You were always so encouraging and energetic for EVERY lesson!  You always allowed Kayla to pick out the songs so she was excited about them but you were always helpful in helping her select an appropriate song for her auditions. You always went above and beyond by assisting with editing music, etc. We were so sad when you moved!!!” – Jen P. [Jen’s daughter took voice lessons from age 10-12 through a homeschool coop.]

“She was always positive and encouraged me to do my best. She always believed I could do it.” – Kayla P. [Kayla took voice lessons from age 10-12 through a homeschool coop.]

“We were referred to Mrs. Larkin by fellow homeschool families who had taken lessons with her and loved her. Our son was 8 years old, and had been playing the piano for 4 years, but was ready to move on to learning the guitar. He continued lessons for the next 3 years until we moved out of state. We had a difficult time finding another teacher who measured up to the standard that Mrs. Larkin had set. We loved that she was a fellow Christ-follower, and that she taught guitar from her repertoire of worship music. We loved her rapport with our son, and the way that she was able to keep him motivated to continue to learn new skills and improve as a guitar player. She would even let his younger brother come in to accompany him on the piano occasionally. She encouraged him to worship as he played, and never discouraged his singing voice even as he neared the age when all boys’ voices change and can be a bit awkward. He also grew in performance skills as he had opportunity to perform at a couple recitals. We are still looking for another Mrs. Larkin where we live.” – Steve and Christina O.

“From the first voice lesson, I knew my daughter was going to have a rewarding and fun experience under Bev’s instruction. Ellie took lessons during her junior high years and only discontinued lessons due to surmounting school responsibilities as she was entering high school. It usually takes my daughter a while to warm up to people but not so with Bev. Bev recognized Ellie’s apprehension and knew exactly how to put Ellie at ease to bring the best out of her – vocally and personally. I would highly recommend Bev Larkin’s easy style of instructing and vast professional knowledge to any prospective student.” – Christine T.
